Rusty
"Rooster" Dees is the owner, manager, and cook of Rooster's Bar-B-Q.
Graduating from Green Forest High School in 1974, he soon started his
own construction company, Rusty Dees Construction. But Rusty always
loved to cook bbq, and in the late '80s assembled his first smoker from
old metal, including some old road signs (this one can be seen in front
of the parking lot of the restaurant). He spent many years
experimenting with different ingredients for sauce recipes along with
different ways of cooking ribs, pork, and brisket, until he felt he had
it down. All of a sudden, people were telling him it was so good he
should open a restaurant, so he decided he should give it a try. Rusty
finally realized his dream when he opened up Rooster's in November
2004. Since then, it has won the Harrison Daily Times's Best BBQ for
the last two years straight. What does Rusty say about his restaurant?
"We figure if we can give people good food at a good price with good
service and a good atmosphere, we figure you'll be back." In addition
to putting out the good food, Rusty also enjoys fishing and playing
golf, cranking Creedence Clearwater Revival and ZZ Top, rooting for the
Arkansas Razorbacks, and hanging out with his wife, Kathy, and son,
Chris.
